Happy Dancing

Girl Guides, Pathfinders, Scouts and Venturers dance at Rendezvous 2009 this past long weekend at the Sturgeon Falls Rod and Gun Club. Despite the amazing three-season weather, all survived the challenges of the Amazing Survival Race. For more pictures see the slideshow.

Scouters Club

* Scouter Norm Giroux is asking for volunteers to help on an upcoming weekend to cut and collect firewood for Camp Wirribara. For details, contact Scouter Norm.

* For Sale:

- two 16-foot aluminum canoes
- one 18-foot aluminum canoe
- two 16-foot fiberglass canoes
- one 16-foot fiberglass square-stern canoe

Contact Scouter Norm for more details, or to make an offer.

* Despite the turnout, 20 per cent below expectations, due to poor weather, Motor Madness produced a small deficit of about $20. Another permanent trophy, the third in six years, was not returned is likely lost, so permanent trophies will no longer be given to youth to keep for a year. The event has almost 20 trophies, almost all are more than 10 years old and many that are 20 years or older. Youth will continue to receive keeper plaques and be given the opportunity to have their picture taken with the trophy at the event.

* New and upcoming events:

- Scoutrees this weekend
- Carwash funding for West Ferris May 30
- Annual Scouters Dinner June 20
- Standard First Aid Oct. 24 & 25
- Wilderness First Aid Nov. 5 to 8

See the Nipissing Scout Calendar for more details.
